Our Principals

My name is Lorene Harvey, and I am proud to serve as the Principal of Elkhorn School. I have had the honor of working in the North Monterey County Unified School District for over 20 years, with the majority of that time spent right here at Elkhorn. This is my fourth year as principal, and I previously served as the Assistant Principal for 12 years. Having built strong relationships with our students, families, and staff over the years, I feel incredibly fortunate to continue leading a school community I know and love so well.

At Elkhorn School, we are committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment where every student has the opportunity to thrive. I truly believe that all students have the right to learn and deserve access to every opportunity available to them. Our goal is to ensure that each child’s elementary school experience is not only educational but also inspiring and memorable.

It is a privilege to serve as the Assistant Principal at Elkhorn Elementary School. My focus is on supporting students, staff, and families through strong collaboration and shared leadership. With over a decade of experience in public education—as a teacher, coach, and administrator—I’m committed to creating a positive and inclusive school culture every day.

For the past five years, I’ve been proud to contribute to the North Monterey County School District, and I’m excited to continue that work at Elkhorn. Our school is guided by a clear mission: to ensure that all students graduate college, career, and life ready. Together, our students, families, staff, and community partners bring this mission to life.

As Assistant Principal, I’m dedicated to making sure every student feels valued, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential. I believe that by preparing our youth today, we are actively shaping a stronger future and helping build a thriving nation.
